Are we in "Perilous Times"?

A PEEK into 2 Timothy 3:1-8

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." v.1

Q: Who or What is the reason behind 'perilous times'?

A: MEN.

"For men shall be lovers of their own selves,

covetous,

boasters,

proud,

blasphemers,

disobedient to parents,

unthankful, unholy,

without natural affection,

trucebreakers,

false accusers,

incontinent,

fierce,

despisers of those that are good,

traitors,

heady,

high-minded,

lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…

Q: What is the 'mask' behind which men disguise?

A: "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:… v.5

Q: What is to be our response to those having the "form of godliness"?

A: "…from such turn away." v.5

Q:  What makes men's captives 'easy prey'?

A: "For of this sort are they which creep into houses,

and lead captive silly women laden with sins,

led away with divers lusts…" v.6

Q:  What is it that men lack?

A:  Truth.

"Ever learning, and never able to come

to the knowledge of the truth." v.7

Q:  What is the cause/result of those who resist Truth?

A:  Corrupt minds.

"Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses,

so do these also resist  the truth:

men of corrupt mindsreprobate concerning the faith." v.8

Q:  What is the end result of "having the form of godliness, but denying the        power thereof..."?

A:   "But they shall proceed no further:

for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was." v.9

Q:  As We have briefly examined 2 Timothy 3:1-8, the question is:

Who or What is the cause of 'perilous times"?

A:  Men

-Men became lovers of  their  own self; and

      - lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; and

      - denied the power of godliness; and

      - resist the truth and unable to come to it because of

       -corrupt minds, and

       -reprobate concerning the faith.
